THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

It's amazing to me that we have reached Advent - four weeks until Christmas.  Now comes the time when we feel we don't have enough time.  The 'word' in one word is 'preparation'.

In each of the readings at Catholic mass this weekend, we are told to prepare.  Isaiah tells his people to go up to the mountain - to meet all good people there - the Lord will be there and show the way.  Paul gave his listeners the warning that "the end was near and all should throw off the ways of the world and put on the Lord."  In the Gospel from Matthew, Jesus tells his followers to be always prepared.  We never know when the end will come.  Don't get so hung up on the activities of living that we are not prepared for the second coming of Christ.

You know that you prepared for Thanksgiving and are now preparing for Christmas - prepare also for the coming of your maker and judge!
