THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

The first weekend in the Lenten Season brings us to Matthew's gospel recounting the time Jesus went into the desert to pray.  Here's the way the story goes.

Jesus went off to pray - to talk to God, His father.  He went by himself.  He went to a remote place where he would not run into anyone.  He went for forty days and forty nights - in the desert.  Not much to eat there.

And, who shows up?  The devil himself . . . bringing Him temptation after temptation. 

Take yourself away from the crowd and talk to God - one on one.  He won't laugh at you.  You'll get the hang of it.   I'm pretty sure He wants to hear from you.
