RECYCLE FRIDAY

Here is a post from about five years ago - I miss baseball.

APRIL 20

On this date in 1912, the Detroit Tigers major league baseball team played its first game in Navin Field.  It's name was changed to Briggs Stadium in 1938 and to Tiger Stadium in 1960.  The Tigers had their last game there in 1999.  The Tigers now play their home games in Comerica Park.

On that same day, the Boston Red Sox played their first game in Fenway park in Boston, Massachusetts.  It is the oldest stadium still in use in Major League Baseball.   I had the thrill of attending a game there a few years ago.

On this date in 1916, the Chicago Cubs major league baseball team played it's first game in what is now called Wrigley Field.  At the time, it was called Weeghman Park.  The stadium is being refurbished right now including a modern electronic scoreboard.  UGH!

Oh, that first home game for Chicago was an 11-inning 7-6 win over the Cincinnati Redlegs.  That hurts!
