CINCINNATI

You may not know or may have forgotten that the very first Major League Baseball night game was played in Cincinnati.  It happened on May 24, 1935 at Crosley Field. The Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1.

I hope that sparks a light in your memory.  Of course, lights were the trick.  We were the first to have them.  Chicago's Wrigley Field was the last.

This is the thirty-five year anniversary of another great baseball event which happened in Cincinnati.  On September 11, 1985, Cincinnatiian Peter Edward Rose broke the all-time hit record held so many years by Ty Cobb.  Against the Padres at Riverfront Stadium that Wednesday night, Pete slashed a single to left field in his first at bat.  It was hit number 4,192 of his career.  More hits than anyone ever - a record not likely to ever be broken.
