MAY 4

I'm really slow sometimes.  I've been using Monday as the day I look into the past.  I'm not sure why it never occurred to me before but you can only do this so many years and you start repeating yourself.  Of course, more than one significant thing happens on a specific date but sometimes not.

Two things:  1.  I've copied here my entry of May 4, 2015 - the last time May 4 landed on a Monday. (I've been doing "On this date" for over 7 years.  Prior to that I did something I called "Cincinnati Sports Last Week" and then a ditty on quotations.)  2. I'd like suggestions for a new topic to use on Mondays for the next 7 years or so.

MAY 4

On this day in 1970, a sad day in American history, we hit a low point in domestic disturbances related to the Vietnam War.  The Ohio National Guard was sent to Kent State University in Kent, Ohio to control a demonstration.  For some reason, they opened fire on the demonstrators and killed four unarmed students and wounded nine others.

There was no chance that the war would gain favor with the American people after that.  The next three years were solely dedicated to ending the war.  Forty-five years ago today.
