CINCINNATI

In Cincinnati, there was a traffic catastrophe recently which shut down the Bent Spence Bridge for several months.  This is the bridge that carries both I-75 and I-71 traffic.  It led me to try to think about all the bridges we have connecting us to Kentucky.  Here is the list of all the connectors inside the I-275 loop which circles Cincinnati through Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.  Dates are original opening.

John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge  1866  Roadway  Cincinnati to Covington KY Rt 17

Newport Southbank Bridge  1872 - 2001   Walk only  Cincinnati to Newport

Cincinnati Southern Bridge  1877  Rail only  Cincinnati to Ludlow   Norfolk Southern Railway

C&O Railway Bridge   1929  Rail only  Cincinnati to Covington   CSX Transportation

Brent Spence Bridge  1963  Roadway  Cincinnati to Covington   I-75 & I-71

Clay Wade Bailey Bridge  1974  Roadway  Cincinnati to Covington   US Rt 42,25,127

Daniel Carter Beard Bridge   1976   Roadway   Cincinnati to Newport   I-471W

Carol Lee Cropper Bridge  1977   Interstate roadway  (west of Cincinnati)  I-275

Combs Heil Bridge   1979   Interstate roadway   Cincinnati to Highland Heights   I-275

Taylor Southgate Bridge   1995   Roadway   Cincinnati to Newport   US Rt 27

If you can't find a bridge you like, try the Anderson Ferry - west side of Cincy to Constance, KY
