This weekend in Catholic churches, you will hear readings for the Third Sunday of Easter that provide the reader with the basic skeleton of religion. This is the structure upon which all else is built.
There is one God. We need to do as God directs. Being human, we stray, from time to time, from the wishes of God - we sin. To impress on man that repentance for sins is of supreme importance, God sent His son to preach that very truth. The Son allowed himself to suffer insult and injury and be murdered so that there would be no doubt what we should do. And that's what it's all about. The final part of the basic structure of religion will be celebrated in a month on Pentecost when the coming of the Holy Spirit to help us is remembered.
Have a great weekend. God bless you.
I love you.
