RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

CINCINNATI

The Reds got pummeled by the San Francisco Giants yesterday afternoon 19-4.  That made it four losses  in a row in the home ball park.  Granted, the Giants have the best record in all of baseball but it still should be a message to all of the loyal Cincinnati fans.  It ain't lookin' too good for this crew.

Here's what I expect to happen.  The park will be opened to all fans without masks or restrictions in the next few weeks.  There will be an influx of rabid Reds watchers for a short while but then, misery.  Unless!  Unless they turn things around.  I really don't expect that to happen.

So what happens?  The Reds might choose bringing in fans over good sense.  They will bring up from the minors two pitchers who will bring with them a lot of excitement.  They may not be ready for the big leagues but, well, let's see how it works out.

The two pitchers are Nick Lodolo and Hunter Greene.  Lodolo is a lefthander who throws a mid-nineties fastball and a good breaker with extreme control.  Green is righthanded and throws 100 mph-plus  consistently.  Both guys are tall, 6'-6" and 6'-5" and have an imposing demeaner on the mound.  The fans will love them.  I just hope they don't rush them to the 'Bigs' for the sake of attendance.
