This coming Sunday is the commemoration of Pentecost. It is by name the 50th day after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ which we call Easter. On this day, God in the form of the Holy Spirit, descended upon the Apostles of Jesus and brought them strength and courage along with wisdom, understanding and knowledge to carry His message to all the world. The Apostles went out and taught the nations and baptized believers not simply with John's baptism of repentance but in a baptism of the Holy Spirit. The gifts they received they gave to the world. If you have been baptized, these gifts are within you.
Let us pray:
Come Holy Spirit and in our hearts take up your rest.
Come with your grace and heavenly aid
and fill these hearts which you have made.
Oh Comforter, to you we cry
you are the gift of God most high.
We praise you with the Father and Son
glory to the Trinity, three in one.
