VACCINATIONS

To all those crazy about vaccinations and those crazy about vaccinations - there are two distinct groups, it seems.   Here is some information you must have.  

We started vaccinating people over two hundred and twenty-five years ago.  Here is the record when the major vaccines were developed.

1796   smallpox

1885   rabies

1890   tetanus

1906   tuberculosis (TB)

1923   diphtheria

1926   whooping cough

1932   yellow fever

1937   influenza (flu)

1952   polio

1963   measles

1967   mumps

1969   rubella (German or 3-day measles)

1974   chicken pox

I was born in 1945 -  I contracted the all of those diseases whose vaccines were developed after that and none of the diseases whose vaccines were developed before that.  Very interesting!

Now comes the new coronavirus-causing disease known by many monikers but usually: 

COVID-19 because it is caused by a virus that looks like a crown under microscope (a corona virus) and the first case was found in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. 

More properly, it is SARS CoV-2 because it is a Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome caused by the CoronaVirus type 2.
