Wednesday, the Catholic Church remembers Mary, Jesus' mother, with a special day; a feast day, a day of celebration. Having been chosen to carry and birth the Son of God, it was fitting that she be without sin from birth - conceived immaculately. Now, there is no one who would better carry our prayers to her Son, his Father and the Spirit.
Mother of Jesus, above whom the Star of Bethlehem beamed to illuminate the babe in the manger; around whom angels sang a song of praise and rejoicing; near whom common shepherds and distant kings came in homage to the child born to be the Christ. Now, as Queen of Heaven and Earth, please ask God to heed our prayers and earthly needs; but, even more, to open our minds to understand our spiritual needs. Amen!
