This weekend at Catholic mass, the first Sunday of Lent, Luke's Gospel tells us the story of how Jesus prepared himself; just as we are called to prepare ourselves this Lenten season. Jesus went into the desert for 40 days. There, He prayed and He denied himself food. At the end of his time in the desert, He was most vulnerable and the devil came to him and tempted him. Of course, Jesus was with the Holy Spirit and withstood the devil's temptations.
This is our call during Lent. Remember the three things we should do: pray, deny ourselves, and do works of charity. Denying yourself can make you vulnerable. Pray that the Spirit of God is with you.
