QUOTES

Last week we were all the way back to Socrates.  This week we'll jump forward to Leonardo da Vinci.  He lived from 1452 to 1519.  What shocks me about those dates is that "in 1492, Columbus sailed the blue."  I don't relate Christopher and Leonardo in the same time period - maybe, that's my personal problem.  Anyway, LdV was an amazing person; an artist, a scientist, an architect, a sculptor and a theorist.  His artistry is exemplified by the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper.  His sculptured statues are scattered around Italy.  The notes and journals found after his death had him designing a helicopter, an airplane, accurate depictions of a human skeleton, and a flying saucer like the ones ....

"There are three classes of people; those who see, those who are shown, those who do not see."

"A beautiful body perishes but a work of art dies not."

"Art is never finished, only abandoned."

"Tears come from the heart and not from the brain."

"I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection.  'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death."

"Nature is the source of all true knowledge.  She has her own logic, her own laws, she has no effect without cause nor invention without necessity."

"The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions."
