Now begins the sixth week of Easter. This weekend at Catholic mass you will again hear readings from The Acts of the Apostles, from Revelations and the Gospel of John.
The passage from Acts further describes how the early Church was built and came to spread across the known world. It is interesting that some well-meaning zealots traveled ahead of the Apostles and expanded or explained the Word of God incorrectly. The Apostles put a stop to that. It happens in our time as well; well-meaning Christians warp the word to their own liking. Stay with the basics, friends, and follow the Spirit living in you.
The reading from Revelations tells of the end times in it's usual symbolic manner. I find it interesting that the writer says that no temple (church) building was seen in the promised land (heaven). The answer is that God and the Lamb is all the church you need.
The Gospel is by John and definitively explains that the Holy Spirit was sent to the Church and it's people upon the departure of Jesus at His Ascension. It is the Spirit that carries on the work of Christ.
Have a blessed weekend. I love you.
