RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend at Catholic mass you will hear readings aligned in their instruction to concentrate our lives in God and not on the things of the world; the spiritual above the earthly.  It is not easy but it must be our aim.

In the first reading, from the Old Testament, a teacher/preacher rightly says, "Vanity of vanities.  All things are vanity."  Vanity is excessive pride - the worst of all characteristics.  Vanity breeds greed sparked by envy.  The things of this world are transient.  "You can't take it with you!"   Don't waste your energy accumulating things that will only bring you happiness for a short time.  Search for lasting joy.

If you believe in God; if you believe in an afterlife; if you believe in eternity - - - well, that's enough to think about today.

Have a great weekend.  I love you.
