THE WORD OF THE DAY

The word of the day is 'complacent'.  It is the thread that holds all of this weekend readings together.

You'll find this word in the book written by the prophet Amos.  In this book, he lists three woes; three huge problems.  Complacency, he writes, causes this third one.  He warns that the complacent are those who have had such great fortune and blessings on earth that they forget how bad things can be.  These are the ones who lead the 'easy' life.  Those that are coddled, loved and rich in the things of the world.

Do not fall into complacency.  Share what you have.  Don't turn you head from the poor, the sick, the injured, the incarcerated, the sad, the lame, or the demented.  Guard the children and honor the elderly.

Have a blessed weekend.  I love you.
