Have you been on an airplane recently? I'm sure the food hasn't gotten any better since the last time I flew. Free stuff includes water, colas or coffee and stale pretzels. At least, that's the way I remember it.
If you were very lucky, you got the option of a two-pack of cinnamon cookies. They're not bad but, being the cookie connoisseur that I am, they're definitely not great - unless you realize what they are all about.
What you have been given are called Biscoff cookies made by Lotus Bakeries. Lotus is a Belgium bakery established in 1932. They make a lot of different things but their mainstay is the cinnamon dunker. Yes, dunker!
The name, Biscoff, is a word made from the first parts of two English words; biscuit and coffee. Does, the biscuit confuse you? Well, our friends in the UK call cookies - biscuits. Those little gems are made to dunk. If you're eating them straight out of the pack, you're doing something they were never intended to do. They are coffee cookies! Dunk 'em and enjoy them. Don't worry about the ogre sitting next to you not approving of dunking. It's very civilized, I assure you. Take it from the Cookie Monster, himself.
Incidentally, Lotus Bakeries has recently joined into an agreement with Krispy Kreme, the American master makers of the donut. One of these days, you may find a cookie in your donut or a donut in your cookie. Who knows?
