My good friend is having surgery today; a hip replacement. This normally wouldn't be a "high risk" operation but, in this case, it is. My friend will be 90 years old this year. He was pretty worried this morning. We told him that his surgeon's friends called him "shaky". We had a special healing service for him at our church this morning and he said it was very calming.
It seems as though people we know are getting hip, knee or shoulder operations every week. Another golf buddy got a new knee last week. It's truly amazing what progress the medical profession has made in my lifetime. When I was growing up, the only operations I ever heard of were appendix and tonsil removals. My dear wife has opened my eyes to a whole myriad of other surgical procedures.
Enough for the background; here is my prayer for today. Please join me.
Almighty Father, through your Son, Jesus Christ, you healed many sick, injured or maimed. Always, these healings included an act of faith expressed by the recipient. I have faith in you. You are my God. I trust you will look with mercy on me, my family and friends. But, whatever happens, I will profess, acknowledge and accept that your will was done. Amen
