APOLLO 11 was the NASA mission in 1969 which landed the first astronauts on the Moon. They were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins (who stayed in the Command Module) and Edwin "Buz" Aldrin.
NASA was afraid that returning astronauts might carry some contagion from the Moon that we could not handle. So, they prescribed several days of isolation after splashing down in the ocean to insure they were not sick. To do this, a special isolation module was built which they entered immediately and were hoisted onto an aircraft carrier.
This facility had everything they needed in one small package the size of a small camper. It included a kitchen in which the first commercial microwave oven was used.
Now, what would we do without a microwave oven? I can't even imagine.
