The passage from the Gospels read at Catholic mass this weekend relates how Jesus treated children. Jewish children before their Mitzvah are to be seen and not heard; pushed into the background. Jesus welcomed them and told his Apostles they needed to be like children; full of innocence.
This brings to mind the evil that exists in this world concerning our children; child abuse and neglect, child pornography, child forced labor, child slavery and child sexual exploitation. Not being a part of these is not enough. Not being a part of these is not enough. We must do our part to protect our children and all the children of the world.
