How's your appetite? Do you have your appetite under control? If you don't, it might show.
Of course, this talk about appetite sounds like a discussion of food and how much we eat - but there is more. An appetite can be any craving, hunger, thirst or desire. You might say that we are controlled by our appetites; what we like, and what we want. Not only food, sustenance, of course but also love, recognition, competition, winning, knowledge, sexual gratification, and more. To have these desires is normal for humans. To have any of them in excess, can be harmful. To not have them, could also be harmful.
Our society favors some and dislikes other appetites. We honor those with a high drive for winning with awards. We dis those with excess body weight. We honor the beauties but mock the bookworms.
Take a look at yourself, today. Where do you sit when it comes to excesses? It's difficult to be the well-balanced person - but, I think we should be striving in that direction. What do you think?
