Things I've learned and I don't know why.
I heard that the very successful musical group Three Dog Night only recorded other people's music - covers. Seven guys - with many changes over the years! Between 1969 and 1975, they had 21 Billboard top 40 hits.
They never created a song themselves. None of them were writers. They performed songs by writers who became famous because of them; Paul Williams, Hoyt Axton, Randy Newman to name a few.
Have you heard of "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Joy to the World", "Try a Little Tenderness".
The next time you're tempted to turn your nose up when hearing of a 'cover band', remember Three Dog Night.
Now you know, too.
