Things I've learned and I don't know why.
It takes a wind of about 15 knots to fully inflate a windsock. Good information! You might see a windsock at the airport. This windsock business is important, because wind gusts can be a big problem for planes taking off and, especially, landing. Sometime, to counteract a gust of wind, a hard landing is called for. Don't blame the pilot. Check the windsock. By the way, 15 knots is just over 17 mph.
Now you know, too.
