Where am I this week? I'm taking a long drive to one of my favorite rest stops when I worked for a living.
First, I headed north on I-75 from home, past the City of Monroe and then took a left on I-275. Shortly, I took a right near the City named after the legendary founder and first King of Rome. I took this interstate east and then north to the freeway's end at the border. Here I stopped for a drink.
Now I'm back on the highway heading East until I hit another road whose route was one number less near a city with an English name. When I came to the big airport on the outskirts, I took a sidetrip to the south to take a quick second glance at a Major League baseball stadium I once visited. Once I was most of the way thru that busy city, I stopped for the night in a burg that featured a resort casino and a nuclear generating station - quite an explosive mix.
Back on the road the next day, heading northeast parallel to the water, I made good time to the outflow of the river feeding the big lake. About the time I arrived in the big city where it would help to speak another language, the highway I was on melded into the highway that goes all the way across the country. I crossed the river and was still heading east and north. Now, I was not far from my destination, and on a divided highway - making good time.
As I approached my destination on the east side of the river, I strained to see the place in the distance. It sits atop a hill in all it's majesty across the river. I crossed to the other side of the river and took a right turn. The river was hundreds of feet below this level. My destination looks like a castle. I think it was a castle at one time. A Hotels and Resorts company had purchased it since I'd been there but it still looked grand.
Just tell me my destination and where I stopped on the way.
