There have been five US Navy vessels named after the City of Cincinnati. All were known as USS Cincinnati. They are as follows:
A Union Gunboat 1861 - 1866 Civil War
A Cruiser 1894 - 1919 World War I
An Omaha Class Light Cruiser 1922 - 1946 World War II
A Fast Attack Nuclear Submarine 1978 - 1996 Cold War
An Independence Class Littoral Combat Ship 2018 - present (See picture below)
A Memorial - Peace Pavilion is being built on the Voice of America (VOA) property in West Chester adjacent to the National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting. The conning tower, the forward dive planes, the upper rudder and the diesel engine generator from the Submarine USS Cincinnati will be incorporated into the project. Look for it next year.
