VETERANS DAY

VETERANS DAY

November 11th marks the anniversary of the German government signing an agreement that said they got their ass beat in World War I. That was a brutal war. Low tech is like that. Lots of hand-to-hand combat. No laser guided missiles fired from jet airplanes 5 thousand feet in the air. No smart bombs dropped by bombers 10 thousand feet up. No cruise missiles shot from ships 10 miles away. A bayonet on the end of your bolt action rifle barrel was about it for most guys. Rifle launched grenades were the latest and big bulky machine guns were all the thing. You could see the enemy bleed and die. You heard him cry out when wounded. Not as much of that goes on today. Thank God.

No matter what the weapons of war, logistics is the most critical thing. The key is to get replacements, ammunition, food and medical care to the front lines. Its making sure your most powerful pieces are free to move forward in a game of chess. Its making sure your safeties and line backers are in position to fill the holes in a game of football. Its FEMA getting supplies to those hit by a hurricane. Be prepared to move forward. He who hesitates is lost.
