DO YOUR JOB

At long last, the Cincinnati Bengals have arrived...not at a place they've never been before. It was just so long ago, it seems that way.

Four months ago Marvin Lewis warned his crew, just "Do your job". I'm sure that's an oversimplification. I'd prefer "Know the man working next to you and trust him if you can. When we get to the point that everyone trusts the guys around him to do their jobs correctly, we can concentrate on doing just our job."

If we have total trust in the guys working next to us, its easy to do our own job. TRUST is the big thing. If you concentrate on doing your own job without any care about those working around you, you will do your job better, but the overall objective might not be met. Until everyone reaches high proficiency, you're taking the chance of making a big mistake (like allowing a big play). That's probably how it will be today. Pittsburgh is too tough.
