HOT TIMES

HOT TIMES

How hot is hot? How hot is a flame? Did you know the temperature of a flame can be measured. The hottest part of the flame is just inside the tip. Here are approximate temperatures of various flames. Flame from a burning paper gets to about 455 degrees F. The log on your fire can get to 1,800 degrees F. A blowtorch gets to about 2,300 degrees F. A candle's flame can get to 2,500 degrees F. The bunsen burner you used in high school science class can get to 2,900 degrees F. And an oxyacetylene torch can get to 5,400 degrees F. No wonder it can melt steel.
