RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

YESTERDAY

I did something yesterday that I hadn't done for twenty years, I bet. Maybe, longer. I washed and waxed a car by hand.

We had the most beautiful day of the Summer. In the garage, I found a twenty year old can of Turtle brand carnauba wax. I just had to do it.

It reminded me of washing my dad's car on Summer Saturdays when I was a kid. I never used wax then. Hell, maybe it hadn't been invented yet. More likely, it was too expensive for us. I just put dishwashing detergent in a five gallon metal pail and went to work in the driveway. I never got an allowance, so I don't know what the impetus was. I suppose I was just told to do it. Of course, that was after I had the lawn mowed.
