Two of my favorite singers died this past week.
Luciano Pavarotti passed away in Italy a month short of his 72nd birthday. He died of pancreatic cancer. He was one of the great tenors of the past half century. I have several of his CD's. He was an inspiration. Nothing compares to his version of "Ave Maria" and he will always live in my mind's ear.
Britney Spears also died this week. If you didn't catch her performance opening the MTV Video Movie Awards program the other day, you missed seeing an adult human being lay a huge egg. She was so bad it was ludicrous. It was a fluke that I was tuned in and I didn't stay with the show very long after her performance. Wow, was she bad. I always thought she was hot - cute smile, knock-out bod, cool dancer, great taste in underwear. I never cared if she actually sang that well. If she makes a comeback from this debacle, it will be a miracle.
