You may or may not know that I love bicycle racing. I really do. Well, my little corner of the world will get a good look at one this Summer. It is known as the 'toughest bicycle race in the world'. Its name is The Race Across America; the longest of all cycling events and the most prestigious of its type.
About 250 riders from around the world will start in California on June 8 and try to cycle the 3000-plus miles across the country to the finish line in New Jersey in about 10 days. In the 26 year history of the race, less than 200 riders have finished the race. Further, only 12 different riders have won those 26 races. The winners only sleep about 2 hours a day.
The race usually takes a more northern route but this year will pass through Butler County and the City of Mason in Warren County. There will be a time station on June 14 and 15 at Princeton Road and Winford Avenue. I can't wait.
