On this date in 1950, Peter Frampton was born in Beckenham, Kent, England. Frampton is a singer-songwriter and musician. He plays both the guitar and the piano.
He began recording in 1966 as lead guitar and singer for the English pop band called The Herd. In 1969, he formed the band called Humble Pie and made several moderately successful albums. He sat in with many other groups and played backup on recordings by a number of artists. He himself went solo in 1971.
Over the years he has appeared in several movies, did television cameos and performed on concert tours. Most recently he could be seen on GEICO commercials with his "talk box".
He married Tina Elfers of Cincinnati in 1996 and has lived in Indian Hill for the last eight years. After September 11, 2001, he decided to become a U.S. citizen.
