BIG BROWN

One of the real thrills of my life was watching Secretariat win the Triple Crown with a monstrous run in the Belmont Stakes in 1973. It was an OMG moment for a sports fan. What a horse. He won by 31 lengths.

I loved watching Affirmed win the Triple Crown in 1978. It was made so exciting not only because of the great battles he had with Alydar but because Steve Cauthen, the 'boy wonder' jockey from right across the river, was in saddle. He won the Belmont stakes by a nose.

Saturday, Big Brown will make an attempt at becoming the first Triple Crown winner since 1978. He looks like he has what it takes. I hope he does.
