The Reds are rounding third and heading for home. They hosted the St. Louis Cardinals for three and won two. The third was a one run loss. On the weekend, they played the Milwaukee Brewers who still had hopes of making the playoffs as a wild card team.  The Reds took two of three and finished the week with four wins in six games.  Aaron Harang finally put it all together and got a complete game shutout victory.
The UC Bearcats (1-1) hosted the Miami Redhawks (1-2) at Nippert Stadium on Saturday evening. Miami could not slow up UC's offense and the Cats ran up a 45-20 victory.  Tony Pike, a junior quarterback, made his first-ever start and you couldn't have asked for more. 
The Bengals (0-2) went to New Jersey on Sunday to play the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants (2-0) in the Meadowlands.  The 'Guys in Stripes' played by far their best game of the year but still lost 26-23 in overtime.
 
In high school football, Fenwick lost to Chaminade-Julienne in overtime, 21-20; Hamilton High beat Mason 32-7; Maderia edged Mariemont 20-14; Roger Bacon downed McNicholas 13-3; Wilimington was wholloped 35-14 by  Loveland.
