CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The UC Bearcats hosted the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on a beautiful homecoming Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati. Chazz Anderson got his second start as a major college quarterback and led the Cats to a 13-10 victory. Anderson racked up a lot of yards passing but never converted a third down the whole game. The defense, led again by Conner Barwin saved the day. Oh yeah, a 50 yard field goal by Jake Rogers never hurt. Jake kicked a 48-yarder to beat Akron two weeks ago.

The Bengals were in New York with Carson Palmer on the sidelines again. You would think the offense would suffer a little, without the starting quarterback. Well, it suffered a lot. They put together one drive at the end of the first half and that was it for the game. The Jets looked like the '82 Bears in beating Cincinnati 26-14. The Bengals may have the worst running game in the history of the NFL.

In high school football, Mariemont got into the win column by stomping Taylor 42-7; Hamilton lost to Oak Hills 31-29; Wilmington lost to Kings 38-14; and Fenwick beat Purcell 27-21 in its homecoming game.
