GENES

Everyone has heard of genes. Each and everyone of us is made of genes. These genes make you who you are. Each person is a combination of genes passed on by their mother and father. You also know that some genes are dominant and others are recessive.

For now, I'm interested in the genes that control the color of your hair. Parents with very black hair produce children with very black hair. Black is dominant over red. The children of a set of parents, one with black hair and the other with red hair, will most often have black hair. Because of this fact, you expect to see fewer and fewer red hair children as time goes on. Red haired people will never be completely eliminated because most black haired people still carry a recessive red hair gene. Every once in a while, a red haired child will be born to two black haired parents.

A blond haired woman told me that the genetic theory above cannot be applied to her (or other blond haired women) because she buys designer jeans.
