I always exercise my right to vote. Well, almost always. Of all things, you wouldn't think that I would miss a presidential election.
My first opportunity to vote in a presidential election was November 5, 1968. Richard Nixon (R) was running against Hubert Humphrey (D) and George Wallace (I). I studied the candidates carefully. Nixon was my man. Luckily, he didn't need my vote. My wife picked that Tuesday to go into labor with our second child; a chubby little hairless daughter we named Michelle.
