RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Bearcats were off through the week.
The Reds have everyone in camp stretching muscles.
The Bengals coaching staff is in Indianapolis for the scouting combines.

Xavier ran into a buzzsaw in Charlotte on Thursday night. They just couldn't get it going and the 49rs hit all the big shots down the stretch including some long 3 pointers as the no.16 Musketeers went down 65-60. XU is now 21-5 and 9-3 in the A-10. That 9-3 mark puts them, amzingly, in second place behind the Dayton Flyers. Say it isn't so.

On Saturday afternoon, UC was home to no. 7 Louisville and played a good solid game but lost 72-63. The Bearcats just don't have the talent to compete with the best teams when they are playing well. The Cardinals are one of the best teams in the country. Alvin Mitchell had 14 points to lead the Cats. Patino put the clamps on Deonta Vaughn.

On Sunday afternoon, Xavier was back home to play George Washington. The Muskies handled them easily, 71-53. XU had five players in double figures.
