CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds started the week off with a three game set against the Diamondbacks. Joey Votto leads the league in hitting but had to leave game two with dizziness. The rest of the line-up wasn't dizzy, they were on fire. Brandon Phillips was hottest of all and the pitching was solid as Cincinnati swept Arizona and moved into first place in their division.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been chosen and have agreed to be the subject of HBO's Pro Football reality series Hard Knocks. I may subscribe for this. In a related issue, the NFL has agreed to let Chad 'Johnson' wear the name Ocho Cinco on his jersey this year. Marvin Lewis said he refuses to call him Ocho Cinco.

The Reds had a weekend series with the Padres in San Diego. Naturally, the lowly "pods" beat the Reds three in a row. Things are never as good as they seem when the going is good nor are they as bad as they seem when the going is bad.
