Have you ever been zapped by a taser? I haven't and, no, I don't want to try it. Did you ever wonder where they got that name?
The inventor of the taser was Jack Cover, a NASA engineer. Cover liked Edward Stratemeyer's series of children's sci-fi novels about a boy genius named Tom Swift. He chose the acronym for Thomas A. Swift's electric rifle as the name for his invention.
