CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds flew into the Big Apple for a 3-game set with the Metropolitans and Joey Votto had a big chip on his shoulder. He kicked it off, hit two home runs and a double as the Reds took two out of three. Bronson Arroyo threw another great game in the finale. Aaron Harang was put on the DL with a sore back.


Next for the Reds came the Phillies in Philly. Disaster struck! They lost in extra innings on Thursday after a strong nine by Johnny Cueto, blew a 7-1 lead in the ninth provided by Mike Leake and lost in extras on Friday, lost 1-0 in extra innings on Saturday after Travis Wood went eight perfect innings and fell 1-0 on Sunday wasting a good performance by Matt Maloney. The bats fell asleep in Philadelphia. I hope they wake up after the All-Star break. They finish the week a game ahead of the Cards.
