CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds started the week with three against the Brewers at GABP. Jay Bruce knocked a homer and knocked in the winner in the 10th inning of game one. On Tuesday Aroldis Chapman came to town and didn't disappoint. He pitched a perfect 7th inning, throwing over 100 mph and the Reds won 8-4. On Wednesday, Johnny Cueto was back in form giving up 1 run through six innings, but Chapman got the 6-1 win with a another perfect 7th inning as Cincinnati swept Milwaukee.

The Bengals finished off the preseason with a meaningless game in Indianapolis against some of the Colts. Finally, the real games can begin.

Friday Night Lights.

On Friday night in St. Louis, the much anticipated series between the Reds and Cardinals began with a close pitchers battle that the home team won. No one threw a punch or a kick. On Saturday, behind rookie Travis Wood, the Reds bounced back and handed the Cards a convincing 6-1 thrashing. Chapman faced just three batters in a quick eighth inning including a double-play ball by Albert. On Sunday, Homer Bailey pitched pretty well but blew a 2-run lead as the Reds lost 4-2. They ended the week seven games ahead in their division.
