There is an interesting book out right now. It is called "Some we love, some we hate, some we eat: Why its so hard to think straight about animals". It is a study of human nature and our relationship with animals.
Think about it yourself. What is the real reason we love some and hate others? What is the real reason we eat some and will not eat others? Why do some cultures love some animals that others do not? Why do some cultures eat animals that others will not?
Will some people really risk human life to save an animal? Do some people consider animal life just as valuable as human life?
Who is better off; the chicken on your dinner table or the rooster injured in a cock fight?
Do people really think of pet animals as part of the family?
