EARTH-QUAKING

Haiti, Chili, New Zealand, Japan, where next? I have attached one of the great links on the internet (click on the EARTH-QUAKING title). Out USGS puts out fantastic information. It's eye-opening to see how many earthquakes are registered at significant levels around the world...how the people of Honshu province might have been warned what could happen...how much or how little we really know about this phenomenon.

The Pacific rim is alive with movement. It looks to me like the eastern coasts of Asian countries, the western coasts of North and South America and the islands of southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand are going to suffer continued assaults from earthquakes.

In case you thought you were totally safe, there were two earthquakes in the New Madrid seismic zone last month. This zone runs roughly parallel to the Mississippi River from the mouth up to St. Louis and branches off toward the Ohio River valley.
