BABY BUMPS

When I was a young man and causing my dear wife to be pregnant every year, it was normal for women to wear the equivalent of a tent when they got to the point it was noticeable.  They all did it.  It seemed the right thing to do.

Saturday night at Longhorns Steak House a young lady waited on us evidently in her third trimester.  She wore slacks and an elastic white shirt that emphasized her shape.  No one thought anything of it. It seemed normal.  Times change.  I thought it was fine.

When I was a kid, the word 'pregnant' was only whispered...women were 'with child' or 'in the family way.'  There were no pregnant teenagers in schools because they were sent away for three months to have their child or worse.  Yes, times change but not always for the better.  I assure you, there were no television shows starring pregnant teenagers in the 1950's.
