Yesterday was a bad day for the Armstrongs. Neil, the first man to set foot on our moon, died at his home in Indian Hill just northeast of Cincinnati at the age of 82. He was a very private person who could have taken advantage of his celebrity but never did.
Lance Armstrong, the American cyclist, decided to stop fighting the USADA (U.S. anti-doping agency) in court and is assumed guilty of doping. He was stripped of his titles and forbidden to race ever again. Armstrong was tested before, during and after every race he competed in and was never found to be doping. A number of his teammates and competitors are claiming that they would testify that he did use illegal means to enhance his performance. He won the Tour de France an unprecedented seven times. Lance survived stage three testicular cancer so I would guess he will survive this. He founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation which has collected millions of dollars for cancer research.
Both of these men were latter day heroes of mine. I'm sorry for both of them.
