RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

HIGH FINANCE

How times have changed.  Going through year-end paperwork, I came across a bank book for a savings account we had when first married.  It was with the First National Bank of Cincinnati, Mt Healthy branch.

Keep in mind that we were married in June of 1966 and had our first child in March of '67 and were expecting our second in November of 1968.  I got out of the Army and we purchased a house in December of 1967.  This was the total of the money we had.

Here is everything in that bank book.
8-22-67 deposit $200 to open account
8-29-67 withdraw $75 balance $125
12-22-67 withdraw $25 balance $100
1-8-68 withdraw $58 balance $42
4-23-68 deposit $30 balance $72
5-1-68 withdraw $10 balance $62
5-10-68 deposit $20 balance $82
6-3-68 withdraw $26 balance $56
6-27-68 withdraw $50 balance $6
7-16-70 deposit $37 balance $41
Closed account.

That's it.  High finance. We opened a checking account in 1968. Before that, we were paying our bills by cash or money order.  I can't believe it myself.  I wonder what I was thinking on my birthday in 1968 - expecting our second child, a car on it's last legs and only $6 in the bank.
