On this date in 1888, the poem Casey at the Bat by Ernest Lawrence Thayer was first published in the San Francisco Examiner.  I've always loved the poem and committed it to memory after I finished school just for my own benefit.  I recite it every once-in-a-while just to refresh my memory.

Oh, yeah.  How could I forget.  Frank N Dupps Jr was born on this date!  Happy birthday Frank.
