RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SPORTS

There is another 24-hour sports channel coming to TV to challenge the already overcrowded airwaves dominated by ESPN.  Beginning on August 17, FOX Sports will offer Fox Sports 1 (FS1) to your cable/satellite line-up.  NBC has already consolidated its sports holdings into the NBC Sports Network as has CBS which offers the CBS Sports Network.  Major League Baseball (MLB) has its 24-hour channel as has the National Football League (NFL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Hockey League (NHL).  The men's Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the women's World Tennis Association (WTA) have their network also.  Race car fans have their Speed and Fuel Channels and horse racing fans have their TVG channel.  If you need it, there are special channels for soccer and rugby.  There are also a few channels totally devoted to fishing and hunting.

What I want to know is this: "Is anybody paying attention to what is going on in the world and with our government?"  "Is there any time left for family? school? religion?"  "Have we forgotten all the troubles the Kardashians are having?"

If sports are a diversion, I think we must be totally diverted.
