AMERICAN HUSTLE

American Hustle is a good  movie but it can't be the best Hollywood has to offer.  Its a semi-true recount of an attempt to upgrade the Atlantic City casino industry in 1979.  The city had approved casino gambling just a few years before but was in decline.  Its the story of con men, conned men and the FBI who turned people into cons for their own benefit.

Christian Bale plays the con man who the FBI agent played by Bradley Cooper is coercing into a massive sting to bolster his career.  Amy Adams plays Bale's partner in crime and Jennifer Lawrence is Bale's wife.

I remember that era pretty well but somehow I can't remember the wardrobe worn by Irish beauty Adams and cutesy Lawrence.  Wow!  I must be a dirty old man because it was the highlight of the show for me.

I liked the pace of the flick.  For that type, it was not too confusing to follow.  I easily saw the critical scam coming and maybe that diminished it for me.  The ending was a little blah.

I recommend seeing it but don't expect to get blown away.
